Developed by Joel Cantor and designed by architect Ralph Johnson of Perkins & Will, Signature Place combines a high-rise residential tower and a low-rise office building with structured parking and outdoor recreational spaces. As part of the project’s developmental agreement with the city, an urban art installation is integrated into the project’s pocket park, taking the form of a 60’ tall choreographic wall of water. The wall’s design presents a delightful form to the city, screens views to the multi-story car park behind without disturbing its natural ventilation, and provides the courtyard with a changing acoustical backdrop sufficient to moderate the sounds of nearby automobiles. The water wall’s languid water choreographies explore numerous patterns endemic to its butterfly form.
