Three water features activate the urban open space in the heart of downtown Fort Worth. Roughly in the center, an immersive water play area of randomly scattered vertical jets explores variations in spatial scale and geyser density. To the east, a slender fountain of patterned waves cascade over small steps, activating an outdoor dining space. The third fountain, much smaller, is tucked into the plaza’s paseo entrance at the northwest edge. It is a small commemorative fountain comprised of a spout and an overflowing bowl, ornamented in western-themed, stone-carved bulls heads and metal fittings. Sundance Square, designed by Michael Vergason, was the recipient of an ASLA Honor Award in 2019.
