Shelby Farms Park, the largest urban park in the nation, was designed by James Corner Field Operations. Its immersive fountain is an organically organized, creative play space involving various play spaces and experiences with various custom-designed spray events, all assembled with locally sourced boulders. The fountain operates during the summer season, drawing water from an on-site well and warming it by exchanging heat with the nearby Marlon Blackwell-designed Restaurant and Event Center building, then releasing it to the adjacent lake in a contemporary engineered system approaching net-zero water and energy results.
